Product Details
Low Ash Metallurgical Coke (LAM Coke) is a high-carbon, low-ash solid carbon material derived from coking coal, used primarily in metallurgical processes such as iron and steel making. It is produced by heating bituminous coal in the absence of air (carbonization), which drives off volatile components, leaving behind a dense, strong carbon mass.
🔹 Key Characteristics:
| Ash Content | 12.5% or lower (usually 10–12%) |
| Fixed Carbon | 85–88% or higher |
| Volatile Matter | 1.5–2.5% |
| Moisture | 5% max |
| Sulphur | 0.5% max (low sulphur preferred) |
| Size | 25mm to 80mm (or as required) |
| Strength (CRI/CSR) | High mechanical strength |
🔹 Uses of LAM Coke:
Blast Furnace in Steel Plants (as a reducing agent for iron ore)
Foundries (casting processes)
Ferroalloy and Non-Ferrous Metal industries
Production of calcium carbide
Chemical Industry (carbon source)
🔹 Why "Low Ash"?
Low ash content ensures:
Higher calorific value
Lower slag formation
Better efficiency in metal extraction
Reduced energy consumption
